Textbook for fall - buy back

You might be able to sell back your 6th edition Physics: A World View at the UCF Bookstore now. We will be using it in fall semester 2009, so I think they will be looking to buy them back.

Unfortunately, it is PITIFUL what they pay.

Slowness on the my.ucf.edu channel

There appears to be a teeny bit of slowness on the my.ucf.edu channel, for the updating of grades. I can see all your semester grades, but apparently you guys cannot.

The registrar's office says the updating of grade rosters for students is still cruising along, and will finish up soon, so we will be polite and not get too fussy about it. :)

Good night

I will now hit the rack. YAY.

HW and CPS are in.

Man! Those CPS points (out of 24) and homework points (out of 16) are looking mighty nice right now. As I always say, they are like the cavalry coming to the rescue. You can look them up in your My Grades page now.

Final exam scores are IN.

Your scantron scores from the final exam are now UP. It is your scantron score out of 78 possible. Take a look in Webcourses.

We are still waiting for Problem 81 scores. Also, I still have to compute your CPS and homework points.

No news

No news yet with final exam scores. We dropped them off before 4 PM yesterday, so it might be Wednesday before we hear anything from those guys at test scoring.

Internet Exploder 8: do not use it.

I received the following disheartening email from the University last night. If you have a real computer (i.e., a Mac), this does not apply to you. It affects only users of MS Windows and Internet Exploder.

Subject: Internet Explorer 8 usage recommendation
Submitted by: Computer Services and Telecommunications

Microsoft has released the newest version of their browser, Internet Explorer 8 (IE8). The software is available for download from Microsoft and is scheduled to be distributed via automatic updates to Microsoft customers later this year.

Certain of the University's enterprise services have not been certified for use with IE8 by the companies who provide the software to the University. There is a possibility that some services or features of our core enterprise systems will not work properly with the IE8 browser at this time. The main systems that are awaiting testing and certification from our vendors are:

  1. my.ucf.edu
  2. webcourses@UCF
  3. Groupwise webmail

We recommend that the UCF community use Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3 until our vendors have had time to test their products and release any necessary updates. In the meantime, please delay upgrading to Internet Explorer 8 until
a notice is sent out announcing that core university systems will work correctly with the new browser version. Thank you.
