Final exam scores are UP.

Excellent. All of your final exam scores are now UP.

Everything is on the books now for almost everybody, so you can get a rough idea of your semester grade by calculating and adding up points as we did in lecture, and then going by the points total on the syllabus for a letter grade.

HOWEVER
I still have to tidy up bonus points like SSG and questions, plus some SMA from midterm 4 for a few people. I also have to decide how to factor in the Chuck Norris HW and the Super Mega Combo-review on CPS last week. So what you calculate will be R-O-U-G-H.

Do not bug me about your semester grade, and do not get Ashton, Gaby or Meg to bug me about your grade. The more you bug me, the slower your semester grades will be.

Office hours on Monday

I will have office hours on Monday morning 8 AM until noon, at Starbuck's in the UCF Bookstore, central campus. I will have the exam printouts with me and you can pick them up.

Breakdown sheets are ready at Twin Pines Mall

If you have your exam printouts, then you can now go and check over the breakdown sheets. Each of the four midterms is now fully broken down as to scantron questions. Look for this icon on the home page: the logo of the Twin Pines Mall.

William Hung, mighty mighty rock star cannot join SSG

Even though William Hung cannot join SSG for final exam prep, you guys can. Look at the blue SSG icon on our home page, and see if the signup sheets light up for you.

Right now there are 7 groups open for signups, and more will come alive in the next 24 hours.

Homework and CPS to date

Here is the points breakdown for CPS and homework, as of today.

CPS43 questions
HW148 questions

So take a look at the grading scheme on our syllabus and estimate your CPS and homework points.

Note: we will have a few CPS and homework opportunities this week, so the numbers above will change, especially with my super-combo review on Thursday.

Exam grades are UP

Exam 4 scores are now UP in your Webcourses grades page. The total for midterm 4 is the main score, and I broke it down into the two subscores, one from SMA and one from scantron.

By the way, a few of you still have some scores pending, because you might have forgotten to bubble in the correct exam form on your scantron etc. Be patient - all of those papers must be chacked by hand, very slow work.

SSG bonus points will be up soon.

Thursday, April 10, 2008

Excellent, I have your scantron scores already.

Another record for fast turnaround time: we have exam 4 scantrons scored and ready. I will analyze data and post scantron, SMA and combined score maybe tomorrow or so. For now: rest your brains and have a good weekend. Meg will have the printouts next week.

P.S. I extended HW 17's deadline to Tuesday next week, on account of Webcourses having conniptions this morning before class. Go get in some more practice on photon calculation.

Brain burners on HW 17, ready to go

OK, go to town on HW 17 and sharpen your wits with the basic questions on the yellow-green photon and with the two brain burners!!!! There is a blurb page to read BEFORE tackling the homework, "Calculation with Planck's constant and the speed of light." which you will find in the Homework folder alongside the actual assignment.

Next HW will appear this morning sometime

I promised a mini-workout with

     E = λf

for homework, and I expect to get it in place before lunchtime today. Keep alert. I will announce it here, as always.

Only morning office hours today

I will be working on the midterm exam this afternoon, so I will not hold afternoon office hours like usual today. I am not too worried, because
  1. last midterm, I had very sparse attendance in afternoon, and
  2. tons of you have signed up for SSG, which is good.

Morning office hours are GO for launch, however, from 8-10 AM, in Starbuck's, UCF bookstore, central campus. Bring questions to work on.

HW 15 ready to go

Homework #15 is now ready to go. You might want to go over the Gaby Guide from today's lecture before tackling the HW, though.

Spoons

I have set up a mini-blurb page on the spoon demonstration in today's lecture. Some cool quantum wave concepts. Look in the Lecture Files.
